16 Impressive Red Bordeaux

New reviews of lesser-known Cabernet- and Merlot-based reds from Bordeaux's potentially classic 2010 vintage

James Molesworth

CHÂTEAU TOURNEFEUILLE Lalande-de-Pomerol 2010 Score: 90

The boysenberry, fig and and warm currant confiture notes are layered seamlessly and lightly, while dark tea, singed alder and bay notes fill in on the finish. Shows excellent depth and refinement. Best from 2014 through 2018.

CHATEAU LA RÉVÉRENCE St.-Emilion 2010 Score: 90

This is a ripe, slightly heady style, offering layers of velvety raspberry, boysenberry and plum fruit, with melted licorice and backed by a tarry edge on the finish. Still a touch chewy around the edges, but the fruit is polished at the core. Should settle in with short-term cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2018
